This Thursday 21st September is ‘𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲’ which is brought to you by our Business Studies classes.
Items on sale will range in cost from $2- $6.
This will take place during lunch (1.15pm – 2pm) under the bike shed.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori

This past week we celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.
We had a week full of fun activities that ākonga worked through via a BINGO sheet. Activities included doing the EP- whakataetae Reo Māori, Quizzes, Disney Moana in Te Reo Māori, tongue twisters, and doing our whole school haka – #Reomoment on Thursday.
Kaiako have also joined in on the fun, collecting stickers when they’ve spoken in Te Reo during classes, to go into a draw to win some Miraka Kirīmi chocolate. We also enjoyed some parāoa parai (fried bread) for morning tea.

AIMS 2023

Last week, a group of Year 7 and 8 athletes travelled down to Tauranga for AIMS.
The netball team had an incredible week with many wins, finishing 26th out of 144 teams.
The basketball and hockey teams also had many wins throughout the week, showcasing the excellent training they have done throughout the year. Basketball finished the week in 29th place and hockey came 15th! Individual athletes also competed in Cross Country.
Well done to all the students who represented MHJC so well. Congratulations!

Save the Date – Tuesday 12th September

Kia ora koutou,

During the year students have been gathering evidence of how they have lived our school values for their holistic reports.

As a courtesy I want to advise that 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟐𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 has been set aside, so that instead of normal classes, students will meet one on one with their Learning Advisor to have the evidence they have provided for their Great Learner Portfolio assessed.

This will be similar to days when we hold Student Led Conferences.

Parents and caregivers may accompany their child if they wish to.

A more detailed letter will be sent to you shortly which will include an opportunity for children to be supervised at school if you are unable to do so at home.

Thanks in advance for your support of this important initiative.

Student vs. Staff Benchball Game

On Thursday 17th August, MHJC hosted a Student vs. Staff Benchball Game. This game was organised by four year 10 students as a part of their Global Studies Social Action.

Students who attended the game donated canned goods and a gold coin. A total of $177.60 and 31 cans were raised, all going to the Feed the Need Foundation. This foundation helps to assist those in poverty.

Well done to all who took part and thank you to all who donated!
