Next Wednesday 30th October, we invite students and staff to wear traditional Diwali attire to school to celebrate Diwali. If you don’t have any traditional clothing, ask to borrow from a friend.
Let’s embrace the diversity of our school community and appreciate our shared celebrations by supporting our kaupapa of whanaungatanga.
We look forward to seeing everyone in their stunning attire!
In Term 1, our Ngahere Year 10 students planned their dream trip to Rotorua. In Maths, they looked at budgets and costs in order to make this dream a reality. Yesterday, the group got back from this trip. Students went to Rotorua and experienced the gondola, luge, Polynesian Spa, Redwoods Tree Walk, and the famous Zorb. Amazing memories were formed for these students to conclude their time as MHJC students.
Below is a message from the Beautification Trust about new recycling rules.
The year has brought about changes and developments with our waste system, in particular regarding what we can and can’t recycle. As many of our community currently struggle with an overflowing red bin on a weekly basis, it is now more important than ever to provide education about how to mend this issue.
Recognising this issue, we created an online waste directory to help our community throughout south and east Auckland (https://www.beautification.org.nz/wastedirectory). Not only this, but we have continued to expand our recycling options onsite at our Community Recycling Centre. We now accept soft plastics and bottle caps (plastic and metal), as well as used tyres (no more than 5, cannot include rims). Please follow this link for further information. https://www.beautification.org.nz/manurewa-community-recycling-centre
This Thursday, we’ll be having our Non-Uniform Day for Term 4! This event is dedicated to supporting the OSC and MHJC Scholarship Fund. The scholarship helps cover university fees for a student who graduated from both OSC and MHJC.
Recently, MHJC has received some funding to allow our Media Studies students to create a promotional video for the Mission Heights Schools bike track. We hope you enjoy hearing about this shared facility.
