Mountain’s First Leadership Camp a Hit!

Over the weekend, Year 10 Mountains’ Students as well as leaders from Year 8 and 9, travelled to Camp Adir for a Leadership Camp. The purpose of the camp was to develop the leadership skills of Year 10 students who have the responsibility of leading Year 7 who arrived at camp yesterday (Monday) morning. The Year 8 and 9 students will utilise their developing leadership skills within their roles on Whanau Council and other school-wide leadership positions they have been appointed to.

Developing Practical Water Safety Skills

Year 9 students in Mountains Whanau have enjoyed integrated learning on their ‘Water Survival – Water Safety’ Context.  This has seen Mathematic, Science, English, Global Studies, Physical Education & Health learning areas working collaboratively to achieve deeper, more authentic learning.
Students have been developing an understanding of the water safety issues that are prominent in News Media.  They have had the opportunity to develop an understanding of water safety as well as the practical skills to keep them and their families safer, in and around the water.

Strong Start to Auckland Schools Debating

Congratulations to our Year 9 & 10 debaters who started their 2016 ASD season off with two impressive wins this afternoon.  Both teams debated in the affirmative for the moot, ‘Waitangi Day should be replaced with a New Zealand Day’.
