COVID update 7 Feb 2022
There have been reports of some students in the Flat Bush community having tested positive for COVID-19 this weekend.
At this point no staff or students have tested positive at MHJC so there is no reason for any students to stay at home unless they have been notified to be a close contact or they have symptoms.
Should we be informed of a positive case, parents/caregivers will be notified if a student is a close contact and you will be provided with information about testing and isolation should that be required.

Welcome Year 7s!
Welcome Year 7 students!
This morning, Year 7 students were welcomed by staff and Year 10 leaders at a “Welcome to MHJC” assembly outside on Kapua. We are very excited for the 2022 school year and for all students to be on-site from tomorrow.

Auckland Anniversary Day
Auckland Anniversary Day, established in 1842, commemorates the arrival of Lieutenant-Governor William Hobson in the Bay of Islands in 1840. His mission was to negotiate a Treaty with Māori Chiefs on behalf of the British Crown, the first step towards setting up a British colony in New Zealand. (waitangi.org.nz)
Today, it is best known for a regatta on the Waitematā Harbour.
We wish our community a relaxing Auckland Anniversary Day in the gorgeous Tāmaki Makaurau.
Harko Brown – Staff Professional Learning
2022 Staff Professional Learning and Development.
On Friday 28 January, New Zealand author Harko Brown took MHJC staff for a Nga Taonga Takaro Workshop as part of their Professional Learning programme for this year. Staff spent sessions learning how to play traditional games – Matamatarongo, Honga, Taanga, and many more. Time was spent enjoying these games and learning how they can be incorporated into all facets of the curriculum.

An important email was sent home this afternoon (Friday) about Admin Day. Parents/Caregivers are asked to make appointments with their child’s Learning Advisor via instructions on the email. Returning students will meet their Learning Advisor via a GoogleMEET appointment on Admin Day. Only Year 7 students, and other new students, can make appointments to meet in person at school.
