Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa Festival

This Friday 9th May is our annual Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa Festival. The festival enables our kura to celebrate the strength and diversity of our Pasifika community. Performances will take place in the school gym from 11am. All whānau are welcome to attend.
We hope to see you there!

Traditional Tongan Mat

At the end of 2024, the Lavemai whānau gifted the school a Traditional Tongan Mat. These mats hold significant cultural, sentimental, and monetary value, and it is an extremely huge honour to be gifted one.

We thank the Lavemai whānau for their service and generosity to our school. The Mat now hangs permanently in the foyer of our theatre for everyone to enjoy.

Anzac Day

On ANZAC Day (Friday 25th April), the Exec Council represented MHJC at the local Howick ANZAC Day Parade, laying a wreath at the Cenotaph to commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of soldiers involved. Lest we forget.

Ngā Pou Kahikatea at Polyfest

MHJC collaborated with Ormiston Junior College and Ormiston Senior College to enter the 2025 ASB Polyfest competition. Their amazing performance comes from resilience at weekly practices and at many weekend noho. The roopu was tutored by Matua Leeroy and kaiaki from the other kura. Ka pai to all those involved!

Eid al-Fitr

Tonight marks the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr, celebrating the end of Ramadan. To all our students, staff, and their families who are celebrating, we extend our warmest wishes for a blessed and peaceful Eid.

May this day be filled with happiness, togetherness, and the blessings of community. We hope you enjoy this special time with loved ones, sharing meals, laughter, and the spirit of celebration.

For those who may not be familiar with Eid, it is a time of reflection, gratitude, and celebration after a month of fasting and prayer. It is a time for families and friends to come together, share meals, and express their appreciation for the blessings in their lives.

From everyone at MHJC, Eid Mubarak!
