A notice to our school community about Enrolments for the 2022 school year.

Earlier in Term 2, representatives from Mitre 10 presented MHJC with a voucher for successful participation in the Howick Fun Run. Student runners, Kaela Clayton and John Nguyen received the voucher on behalf of the school.

A reminder from Ormiston Senior College of their Open Evening this Wednesday from 6pm until 7.30pm.

Last Friday, students participated in the annual MHJC Cross Country competition. The weather was amazing for a run and all students who participated did their Whānau proud. Congratulations to Forest Whānau for winning this interwhānau competition!

Over the past 2 days, MHJC staff have continued to ‘grow their greatness’ through sporting endeavours. Yesterday, staff and students played in a competitive football match. The students displayed their youthful skill quite quickly into the game, and despite staff maintaining possession, students took away the 1-0 win. Today, staff took to the Cross Country course, running to accumulate points for their individual Whānau. Staff points from today will be added to student points tomorrow for the overall Interwhānau Cross Country winner.

Last Friday, MHJC staff and students came together to support the 40 Hour Famine through the ‘Orange Mufti Day’ fundraiser. Through gold coin donations, the school raised $575! Well done to all students who wore orange and especially those who participated in the 40 Hour Famine over the weekend.

Last Friday, Year 8 students from Coast Whānau, the Enviro Council, and a select few Mountains Whānau students, took part in the restoration project of Ōhuiarangi. Students planted 765 native plants. An excellent effort for just under 2 hours of planting and especially as most students had never planted before. A job well done!

Over the past term, Trail Pro has been building a Pump Track on MHJC’s lower field. This resource is open for students and the greater community to use. Within school, students will be completing a ‘Bike Passport’ as part of their Pump Track experience. Students will learn how to properly wear a helmet, how to maintain a bike, and the proper riding techniques. Students are encouraged to ride their own bike to school and use the Pump Track.
