Tournament of Minds – help us get to Canberra!
This past weekend, our Tournament of Minds (TOM) Team won Nationals in Wellington and have thus qualified to attend the International Tournament in Canberra from October 13th – October 16th 2022.
Tournament of Minds is a problem-solving programme for multi-aged teams of students who work together to solve a demanding, open-ended Long-Term Challenge. The team will also participate in an unseen Spontaneous Challenge on Tournament Day. The purpose of Tournament of Minds is to enhance the potential of youth by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collectively within a challenging and competitive environment.
Our team needs your help in getting to this International Tournament!
Please see the below link to their fundraising page if you would like to help the team compete at this International event.

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori
MHJC ended Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori with some delicious hangi, fried bread and pudding, and a joint celebration with Mission Heights Primary School. Both schools’ Kapa Haka groups performed together beautifully, as their families, teachers and school mates watched on. We also had a friendly kaiako (teacher) MHP vs MHJC Kaimahi Challenge, with our teachers winning and claiming the ‘Kaimahi quiz’ plaque. Ka mau te Wehi!
